Giovanni Caccamo opens the “Baroque in All Senses” festival
“Open Sesame – words of change”: an unforgettable event in Ragusa.
Don’t miss the event of the year in Ragusa: “Apriti Sesamo – Words of Change: Ogni beltà, Madonna.” A tribute to the woman, holy and female, between the sacred and the profane, with an extraordinary program.
A tribute to women and music
Love declined in all its forms will be the central theme of this evening. Giovanni Caccamo, talented singer-songwriter and considered the artistic heir of Maestro Franco Battiato, will be the guest of honor. Together with Marco Brugaletta, Caccamo will discuss the book “Manifesto of Change. Word to the Youth,” published by Treccani. This book, which includes a contribution by Brugaletta, was delivered to President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and Pope Francis.
An evening of polyphonic music
The evening will continue with a concert of polyphonic music performed by Ensemble Extravocalia. Among the composers interpreted will be Palestrina, de Victoria, Lasso, Arbeau, Donato and Verdelot. The collaboration between Extravocalia and Giovanni Caccamo promises a unique musical experience, weaving together different genres with Baroque music as a common thread.
The themes of the evening
Giovanni Caccamo invites us to reflect on deep themes such as the value of small things, the environment, and the acceptance of passing time. The evening will be a journey through songs that explore love in all its forms: revolutionary, passionate, and sometimes irreverent. From the purity of Palestrina’s Alma Redemptoris Mater to Thoinot Arbeau’s pavane about a woman holding a man’s life in her hands, to the amorous nicknames and rough language of soldiers in the works of Orlando di Lasso.
Dinner-Tasting
At the end of the concert, at 9 p.m., a dinner-tasting with local delicacies will be offered. You will be able to enjoy samples of local products and innovative recipes inspired by the Baroque, accompanied by wines and beers from the best labels of the province of Ragusa.
