Easter in the Iblei is a unique event that combines tradition, culture and natural beauty. This year, the 12 municipalities in the province of Ragusa, in collaboration with the Gal iblei, have decided to join forces to promote the Easter celebrations jointly. This project aims to enhance religious tourism, offering an unmissable opportunity to discover the rich traditions of this corner of Sicily.
A journey through ancient traditions and rituals
Easter in the Iblei is characterized by a series of rituals and celebrations that fascinate and involve everyone who participates. The “vasate,” “svelate,” confraternities and joy-filled processions through the crowds represent the beating heart of these traditions. The beauty of the area, in full spring bloom, is the perfect setting for these events, awakening the senses and providing unforgettable emotions.
A Land Enhancement Initiative
The mayors of the municipalities of Acate, Chiaramonte Gulfi, Comiso, Giarratana, Ispica, Modica, Monterosso Almo, Pozzallo, Ragusa, Santa Croce Camerina, Scicli and Vittoria, in synergy with the Terra Barocca and Valli del Golfo Gal, have worked together to create a unified program of Easter celebrations. “We are convinced that even those who were born and raised here will have the opportunity to discover the traditions of neighboring towns, experiencing the entire Easter in the Iblei by consulting a single brochure available here: Easter in the Iblei brochure,” the mayors declare.
An opportunity for growth and discovery
Bringing together all the peculiarities of the different municipalities and the programs of the many organizing committees was not easy, but this collaboration is an important step forward in increasing the attractiveness of the area. “We believe that actions of this kind should become the practice for a territory that can increase its attractiveness simply by teaming up,” add the initiative’s promoters.
