Combining tradition and agricultural innovation: “The success of Sant’Antuninu with YoungaDays”

The Feast of Sant’Antuninu, conceived by the ScicliSmart association, has ignited community enthusiasm with an explosion of tradition, innovation and cohesion. This year, the association outdid itself, transforming Via Aleardi into a vibrant center of celebration and culture, thanks to the many references to St. Anthony of Padua in the surrounding area.

The event began on a note of magic and spirituality, thanks to the “MIRACOLI” exhibition. Artists such as Irene Puglisi, Ernesto Assenza, Mistinguett, Anonimo, Daniele Paolino, Pietro Naoni, Sebastiano Lucenti, Das Palermo and Cori brought their vision of the saint’s miracles, creating an atmosphere of reflection and wonder. At the same time, Mirko Fanciullo enchanted the audience with his “forgotten records,” bringing back the vibrant Mediterranean wave.

The second day was a riot of tastes and sounds. The ancient recipe for St. Anthony’s bread was recovered and reinterpreted with passion by La Bottiglieria, Mynameistannino, Caravan and Noka. Live concerts by Cico Messina and Libero Reina made the air vibrate, blending Sicilian tradition and modern influences into an irresistible mix.

The third night saw rhythm take center stage with exclusively vinyl DJ sets. Terra Matta, DJ Tommà and Ciccio Frasca turned the night into an unforgettable party, making everyone dance to the sound of their carefully selected music.

The grand finale of the festival was a moment of pure community magic with the Miracle Lunch. Over ninety people gathered around a single social table, recreating the atmosphere of Sunday lunches of yesteryear. Four chefs, Roberta Padua of @ummara_vineriaconcucina with “La lingua incorrotta,” Kevin Spadaro of @prositsicilianbistrot with “La mula in ginocchio,” Carmelo Chiaramonte of @caromelo_donnalucata with “La zuppa avvelenata,” and Oliver Gallaro of @sesamo_ristorante with “Bicchiere intatto,” interpreted the Saint’s miracles with simple but extraordinary dishes, transforming the ancient stories into an unprecedented culinary journey.

A special mention goes to the extraordinary collaboration with Confagricoltura and Giovani di Confagricoltura Anga, who brought the YoungaDays festival to the event. This collaboration created a perfect marriage between two seemingly different, but deeply complementary realities. YoungaDays supported the Sant’Antuninu festival by providing fresh, quality ingredients for the Miracle Lunch, ensuring that each dish was an exceptional culinary experience. In addition, the festival evenings entertained YoungaDays participants after their daily talks, providing moments of entertainment and fun that complemented the days dedicated to agriculture and innovation.

The fusion of YoungaDays and the festival of Sant’Antuninu created a vibrant bridge between cultural roots, the land and the future, demonstrating how tradition can be celebrated and reinvented with enthusiasm and creativity.

This event is not just a local celebration, but a unique opportunity for visitors to discover the cultural heart of Scicli. In addition to the vibrant Sant’Antuninu Festival and the YoungaDays festival that revolutionizes the approach to agriculture, Scicli also offers the exclusive Enjoy Barocco experience. This special program allows visitors to immerse themselves in the rich artistic, cultural and architectural heritage of Destination Terra Barocca, making every visit an unforgettable experience.

The appointment is for next year, certain that the event will be even more extraordinary and engaging.
