After the success at the TTG in Rimini, the Terra Barocca GAL continues to enthusiastically promote the destination Enjoy Barocco, this time on the prestigious stage of the World Travel Market (WTM) in London. From Nov. 5-7, 2024, the Sicilian destination had the opportunity to make itself even more known to industry operators, tour operators, media and international buyers. The WTM, one of the most important trade fair events in the global tourism scene, has been confirmed as a strategic showcase for promoting cultural and sustainable tourism, and Enjoy Barocco took this opportunity to consolidate its position among tourism destinations of excellence.
Sicilianity conquering global markets
At the heart of the WTM, GAL Terra Barocca actively participated in the press conference organized by theSicilian Region’s Regional Department of Tourism on November 6. The Councillor, Elvira Amata, emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration among different Sicilian destinations, with a view to synergistic promotion. During the event, the destination manager of Enjoy Barocco, Christian Del Bono, together with Simone Tumino, had the opportunity to present the destination to a qualified audience of international buyers and journalists, illustrating the tourism potential of the Hyblaean territory, which ranges from the beauty of the Unesco heritage of its Baroque monuments, to the cultural vibrancy of its traditions, to its typical cuisine and breathtaking landscapes.
A unique tourist offer: between history, art and nature
Enjoy Barocco is a brand born from the collaboration between the municipalities of Ragusa, Modica, Scicli, Ispica and Santa Croce Camerina, an area that embodies the authenticity and beauty of Sicily. The tourism proposal stands out for its ability to mix Baroque culture, food and wine excellence and respect for the environment, aiming for a sustainable tourism that can attract travelers in search of authentic and engaging experiences.
Promotion in the international market: a strategic plan
Participation in the WTM in London is just one step in a broader marketing plan that includes attendance at major trade fairs, the organization of educational tours and promotional events, and the creation of digital platforms that leverage artificial intelligence to enhance the tourism experience. A clear goal for the Terra Barocca LAG is to develop a tourism observatory, which will collect and analyze data on visitor flow, providing useful information to optimize the tourism offer and develop targeted strategies for the future.
Gastronomy and traditions in London: the taste of Sicily
One aspect that particularly impressed WTM participants was the opportunity to sample some of the area’s typical food and wine delights, such as the famous Modica IGP chocolate and favette, a traditional Sicilian dish. Tastings that allowed visitors to experience a small taste of the culinary riches that accompany the journey through Sicily’s Baroque sites.
Looking to the future: development and innovation
Looking ahead, Enjoy Barocco has a number of projects in store that aim to consolidate its position among the most popular tourist destinations. These include the organization of seminars and training courses for industry professionals, an innovative mobile app, and the creation of exclusive content to promote the destination. Each initiative is designed to meet the needs of a modern and responsible tourism, capable of attracting a global audience, attentive to quality, sustainability and authenticity of the experiences proposed.
Participation in the World Travel Market was therefore an opportunity for GAL Terra Barocca to make itself known and open new doors to international tourism, confirming that Terra Barocca is ready to become a favorite destination for travelers of the future.
