Kicking off“InTeatroAperto,” the theater festival promoted by Garibaldi Theater now in its third year
A summer of culture and entertainment: discover the “InTeatroAperto” review at the Garibaldi Theater
Get ready to experience an unforgettable summer of culture, music and light-heartedness! The Garibaldi Theater Foundation of Modica once again confirms itself as a beacon of cultural offerings in the Hyblean territory. The third edition of“InTeatroAperto” promises fifteen unmissable events, from July to September, ranging from prose to symphonic, light and opera music. This extraordinary event is organized in collaboration with the Teatro Massimo Bellini of Catania and under the patronage of the Municipality of Modica and theDepartment of Tourism, Sports and Entertainment of the Region of Sicily.
The festival will kick off on Friday, July 15, with the comedy “Non ti pago” by Eduardo De Filippo, directed by Saro Spadola and performed by the Controscena theater company, at the San Giuseppe U Timpuni amphitheater. The following day, Saturday, July 16, the cloister of Palazzo San Domenico will host the string orchestra of Catania’s Teatro Massimo Bellini for a concert paying tribute to Antonio Vivaldi and Giuseppe Torelli.
But the music does not end there! On Sunday, July 17, The Harmonics and Daniele Catrame will delight the audience with their “Concert” at the cloister of San Domenico Palace. On Friday, July 22, the San Giuseppe U Timpuni Amphitheater will host the play “The Inheritance of Canon Uncle” by Antonio Russo Giusti, directed by Nele Pluchino and presented by the Cgs theater company.
Music will continue to take center stage on Sunday, July 24, with Serena Agosta and her show “Sciara. The Fire Within” at the cloister of Palazzo San Domenico. On Friday, July 29, the Liberty company will stage the play “Amara cu mori” by Turi Seminara at the San Giuseppe U Timpuni amphitheater. On Sunday, July 31, the exotic and melancholic notes of “Gusta Cuba” will fill the cloister of Palazzo San Domenico.
August begins in style with the “Grand Summer Concert” of the Garibaldi Theater Foundation Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Salvatore Percacciolo and featuring Salvatore Quaranta on violin, on Saturday, Aug. 6. On Sunday, Aug. 7, the prestigious “International Masterclass in Orchestral Training” will feature the International Wind Orchestra, conducted by Mirko Caruso, and piccolo soloist Francesco Guggiola from the Orchestra of the Teatro della Scala in Milan.
The highlight of the season is set for Thursday, Aug. 11, when Roberto Vecchioni and his historic band will take the stage at the auditorium in Marina di Modica for a leg of his “L’infinito tour.” On Friday, Aug. 12, the comedy “Ridiamoci sopra” by the Hobby Actors theater company, directed by Riccardo Tona, will be performed at the cloister of Palazzo San Domenico. On Saturday, Aug. 20, soprano Daniela Schillaci and tenor Angelo Villari, accompanied on piano by Gaetano Costa, will perform the most famous arias and duets of opera.
Popular music will take center stage on Friday, Aug. 26, with the “Muorikamuri” concert at the auditorium in Marina di Modica, which will see the return of the historic Modica band Mas-Nada, along with Nello Analfino and Antonio Modica. On Saturday, Aug. 27, the comedy “Minchia Signor Tenente” by Antonio Grosso, directed by Piero Pisana and presented by the Sipario Blu theater company, will close the month with laughter and fun. The last event of the season, “13, 17 and…gn’iattu niuru,” directed by Giovanna Drago and presented by the I caturru theater company, is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 2 at the San Giuseppe U Timpuni amphitheater.
